November 2008
The cutest baby contest is over, and we have a winner! There were about 10 entries, and every one of the babies were very cute. For everyone who entered, keep in mind that if you book any session before January 1st you will receive a 25% discount.
Our winner is Mackenzie, who is 10 months old. Congratulations Mackenzie and parents, I’ll be contacting you soon to work out the details of your free session!

Josh and Samantha have been waiting to be engaged for a while now… and on October 18th they finally made it official! Samantha is also a photographer so I feel extra special that she asked me to take their pictures. We went down to the Columbia Riverfront Park, and then went over to Memorial Park. The sunset was amazing, and we were able to get some awesome photos in front of the beautiful sky.
Here are some of my favorites from the session… I put my favorite ones at the end, so make sure you scroll all the way to the end of the post.

October 2008
Caroline and Geoff are getting married next year, and they decided to get some engagement photos taken. We went out to the river walk, and through the vista to find some spots for photos. The skies were beautiful and the weather was great. Here are some of my favorites from the session.

Tonight was the Midtown Baptism, and it was on top of a parking garage in downtown Columbia. I left my camera in the car, but when I saw the sun setting I had to run down and grab it for a few shots. God is doing some awesome things in Columbia through Midtown. Check out Midtown’s website here.

So, this is a picture Ashley took of me and I thought it would make a cool album spread. Just something I made when I was bored and I thought it looked cool.
I have some new updates coming to my blog this week, so be sure to keep checking back.

Do you know someone with a really cute baby? I’m going to run a contest through the end of October to try to find the cutest baby! The winner will receive a free baby session with a $50 print credit ($100 value). All entries will receive 25% off any session (including non-baby sessions) booked before January 1st 2009.
Here are the rules, and how to enter:
1) To enter, submit a photo of your baby. You may submit an entry for a friend of family member as long as they give you permission. By submitting your photo you are agreeing that I have the right to post the image on this blog. Send your photo to corey@coreypotter.com. Include the baby’s name and age in your email.
2) Deadline for entry is midnight on October 31st.
3) Photo must not be taken by a professional photographer, and hospital photos do not qualify for entry.
4) Prizes are only awarded to the parents of the baby in the photo. This includes the baby session for the winners and the 25% discount to other entries.
5) “Baby” means any child under the age of 18 months.
6) All sessions will be shot on location or in the home of the baby (unless other arrangements are made).
7) All judging will be done by Corey and Ashley Potter, and is completely subjective.
Good luck!

Here are some pictures Ashley and I took at Fields of Faith at Ridgeview.

Kristiaan wasn’t to happy with her senior portraits from school, so we decided to go do another session for her. I had to do some convincing to get her to step onto USC campus, but the horseshoe is a really great place to do portraits with an outdoors feel to them. Not to mention, we were able to find all kinds of things that related to Clemson while we walked around.
Kris, I hope you like these better than your school portraits.

These flowers are planted all over the USC campus. I saw these on the USC Horseshoe while doing a portrait session.
Is it just me, or is this a really poor choice of flowers for USC? I suspect a Clemson fan landscaper.

These are some pictures I took of Megan before I had my blog. I thought I’d go ahead and put a few up since they never made it to the site.

Some people have been looking at my website recently and asking why I don’t have any images posted from weddings. I have been assisting an awesome professional photographer (Patty Hallman) as a second shooter since May. So far I’ve shot over 15 weddings as a second shooter. Patty has taught me so many things about photography and she has been more than generous helping me get started with my own business.
I was able to help take photos at the USMC Mud Run this year. I shot for Pro Photo To Go, who has all the photos online here. Several other photographers from PPSC came together to shoot the event. We were each assigned an obsticle and ended up with a total of over 50,000 images.
I was assigned to the Zig Zag where the runners had to make their way through about 100 yards of chest high water. Here are some of my favorite photos and some of the people I knew that were running.

When I was first engaged, I was not into photography, and I didn’t even know what engagement photography was all about. When my fiance told me she wanted to get engagement pictures, I was like… why should we do that? I hadn’t even heard about engagement pictures before. I am guessing there are other guys out there like me who need some convincing… so here are the top seven reasons I think you should have your engagement photos taken.
So, this was the first time I’ve actually taken pictures of a REAL engaged couple! I’ve taken pictures of married couples and seriously dating couples, but this is the first set of real engagement photos! Patrick and Ginnie are getting married on December 13th at First Pres Downtown. Ashley and I had lots of fun taking their pictures, and hopefully we’ll be hanging out alot. I cant wait till their wedding.

September 2008
So… my cousins have the cutest kids ever. I think that’s a good sign that Ashley and I will have cute kids too
I wanted to get a group picture at the family reunion, but I wasn’t able to get it before everybody started eating… and its hopeless after people eat to get everyone back together. The reunion was at Pine Island on Lake Murray which is a really pretty place. I hope I get to take pictures of a wedding there sometime.
Hudson LOVES having his picture taken… and he is sooo nice to everyone. He also loves playgrounds!

Tyler Newton Shick is just over 6 weeks old, which is right on the end of the “newborn” stage. He is adorable and I was able to learn alot from Carrie (my cousin) who had some great ideas for baby photography. I really look forward to taking more pictures of Tyler as he goes through his first year.
Here are my favorites from the session:

Today I got to take pictures of my second cousin, Tyler. I have alot to learn about photographing newborns, but I at least got a few good pictures. Here is one of my favorites… I should be posting some more tonight or tomorrow so be sure to check back.

she is soooo pretty. end of story.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to take pictures of someone with their dog. Olivia wanted to surprise her husband with a picture gift for their 2 year anniversary. She and Jasmine dressed up in their best USC colors and we went to the horseshoe to take pictures on campus. O… by the way, today is their anniversary… so happy anniversary Olivia!
I am currently working at PC Laser Tech. I do my website design/photography work from here/home and I talk with customers during the day while my Uncle is out on calls. These are just a few pictures I took of the building and inside the store. You should stop by if you have any computer problems… or just to say hey. 1211 D Ave. http://www.pclasertech.com. Yes I know the website sucks… but they wanted a flyer up for now while I work on the other site.

I have been excited about taking pictures of Sloan for a long time! She is one of the cutest babies ever! She was a little grumpy when we first got there, so I didn’t get to do some of the cool family shots I had in mind… but she was sure happy when she got the cake!

My mom’s birthday was on August 31st so I wanted to take pictures of my siblings as a birthday present. Here are a few of the shots of my little brothers and sister.
This first shot is one that Ashley took of all 4 of us.

Ben and Lauren Landers never had an engagement session before they were married, but they really wished they had. They decided that even though they were already married, it wasn’t too late to have an engagement session. I had lots of fun taking their pictures on the river walk, and downtown Columbia in some parking garages.
August 2008
Me and Ashley went out with Joseph and Hannah and took some pictures. They are a cute couple and we had alot of fun hanging out with them. Hannah is one of the most photogenic people I have ever seen… I’m not sure if she could have a bad picture taken.

So… Rachael was telling me a story about this random guy who came into the store she was working at (a womens clothing store) and asked if she had ever done any modeling. She told him no and he asked if she wanted to “be in his portfolio.” He gave her a card and Rachael did a little bit of research on the guy… only to find out he was a pimp! So of course… I said “I’m not a pimp… do you want to be part of my portfolio?” She said she’d be happy to model for me… so we went out and took some pictures. She would actually make a good model, because she knows how to do all the model faces lol.

July 2008
Well, I like this logo alot better… so maybe it will stick with me for a while.
I love this picture lol…

What about this? I know the logo isn’t the best ever… but I pretty much suck at designing logos, and I can’t afford to pay anyone to do it right now.
I love Actions.
Hudson loves cake.

I am trying to decide how I’ll put borders on my images, so this a test with an action I made to give a 20px white border with a 2px black stroke. How does this look?

I remember when I first got my Canon Digital Rebel in the mail. I was so excited… I took it out… put it together… and there was no CF card. I went to the store and bought a 1 gig card (which back then cost like 70 bucks) and came back to play with my new toy. Since I’m testing a post on the blog… I thought I’d test with the first picture I ever took with a DSLR… so enjoy. lol. And yes… thats a batarang… I made it myself and it really works (I’m not a nerd at all)!
